Drawing inspiration from Zen gardens, the artist has designed a portable miniature Zen garden in this work. A circle protecting the sand and metal strips resembling waves greet the viewer. The artist has applied a charring process to the metal, giving it different colors. These dark tones are a reference to space and emptiness. The artist has also designed the work from three different angles. The first angle alludes to the teachings of waves in Buddhism. A wave arises, grows, and returns to its source. The second angle represents the void created by the strips. The third angle, unlike the first, gives us the image of a rock. While the universe may appear finite, energy is constantly changing, illusions are endless, and possibilities are infinite.

ARTIST

Utku Yilmaz

Born in Afyonkarahisar, Türkiye, in 1992, she completed her master's degree in Sculpture at Akdeniz University. During her studies, she participated in exhibitions, symposiums, and projects. The artist, who creates with great passion, bases her sculptures on the theme of "Zen Gardens." She also continues to produce in painting, illustration, and photography, and as a second profession, she teaches English.
