Layer explores the traces of time through an interplay of natural forms, structural traces, and color blocks. The fibrous texture of the handmade paper and the multilayered structure of the collage establish a language that is both organic and geometric on the surface. The white leaf form at the center symbolizes the fragile spine of life, while the deep blue tones evoke a sense of depth and silence. The vertical dark forms in the composition appear as tree trunks, silent witnesses to the landscape; these trunks bear the marks of time and seasons. The coming together of different material pieces symbolizes the superimposition of traces carried from the past to the present, creating a new whole.

Melis Sucuoğlu Doğan

Born in Antalya in 1988, he completed his undergraduate studies at Gazi University, his postgraduate studies at Akdeniz University's Faculty of Fine Arts, and his Proficiency in Arts. He currently serves as a faculty member at Ardahan University's Faculty of Fine Arts.

Establishing a layered connection between nature, memory, and cultural narratives in her artistic production, the artist works with monoprints, handmade paper, and mixed media. She treats surfaces not only as a field of expression but also as a place of memory that carries the story of the material. The surfaces she creates from recycled paper are shaped with an ecological consciousness, emphasizing the sustainability of both the material and the subject through images of landscape and nature.
